This matryoshka doll (aka babushka dolls or Russian nesting dolls) comes directly from Moscow.

It contains 5 stacking dolls crafted of wood, skilfully hand painted (watercolor paints) and varnished with matte finish. The dolls are signed by the artist (Karpova). The dolls are all hollow except the smallest one, and can hide one inside another.

Lel is a God of love in Slavic and Eurasian mythology. He was represented as youth dressed in white playing svirel' in the forrest.
