“The Nutcracker” Matryoshka 3 pcs

This matryoshka doll (aka babushka dolls or Russian nesting dolls) comes directly from Moscow.

The painted miniature is based on The Nutcracker and the Mouse King – a story written in 1816 by E. T. A. Hoffmann in which young Marie Stahlbaum’s favourite Christmas toy, the Nutcracker, comes alive and whisks her away to a magical kingdom populated by dolls after defeating the seven-headed Mouse King.

The set is crafted of wood, skilfully hand painted and varnished with gloss finish. The dolls are signed by the artist. The dolls are all hollow except the smallest one, and can hide one inside another.
